Savannah

Labor Day weekend we decided to take a very last-minute road trip to Savannah, Georgia to celebrate Ashton's 18th birthday. She loves being spontaneous and loves an adventure so we packed a bag and headed up to the beautiful, historic city.

Lunch at Paula Deen's Restaurant.

Warm Hoe Cakes and Cheddar Biscuits

Chicken Pot Pie
Fried Green Tomatoes
Grilled Cheese and Jelly Roll Fries

Southern Buffet

Lots of shopping (and walking) around afterwards!

We saw Justin Bieber!
No, not really. But we did see April Johnston from Project Runway Season 8.

Like a kid in a candy store...

Ben Rector

Ben Rector hits the streets to talk about his upcoming release, Something Like This. I can't wait! He is one of my favorite artists and he's just adorable, too!

I miss Nashville!
Here is one of my favorite Ben Rector songs, Dance with me Baby.
Enjoy...

Jewelry Giveaway!

Today one of my favorite blogs, Silly Eagle Books, is hosting a jewelry giveaway from my Etsy shop. Check out Vanessa's blog for details on how to win this Love Letters Bracelet.

Like Vanessa, I have also loved books my entire life. I loved reading stories aloud to my children when they were younger. It was fun to give the character's their own unique voice and that quality time together was always so special. Even as they grow older (9 & 17) we still share a love of children's literature and hope to collaborate on a children's book together someday. One of our old favorites that was passed down from older to younger sister is Pete's a Pizza (I actually still get requests for this one) by William Steig.

Pre-school Pete can't go outside because it's raining so his dad "makes him into a pizza." It was so much fun to make them into a pizza at the same time and then run around the house trying to catch and "eat" them!

Silly Eagle Books is a great blog for moms with book reviews, activity ideas and more! Check it out!
